The workshop will centre around the upcoming International Year of Co-operatives 2012; assessing ICA preparations on both global and European levels as well as highlighting individual members’ propositions for 2012 looking specifically at consumer co-operatives. Special guest speakers Charles Gould, Director General of the ICA and Klaus Niederländer, Regional Director of Co-operatives Europe will present their ambitions for the year leading the way for the global co-operative movement.
Key note speakers from Russia, Bulgaria and the Co-operative Group UK will also present their planned initiatives for the international year with the aim of co-operation and assisting others in their own planning. This will be a great opportunity to share ideas and activities in celebration of the year and combine our efforts as a movement to utilize this momentous occasion for the future development of co-operatives worldwide.
Finally, themes of best practice will be highlighted to ensure that the international year is a success for 2012 and beyond, calling members and co-operators everywhere to action to spread the Co-operative message.
